Getting ready for the new arrival

Congratulations! Your new baby is on its way! It’s only natural you want to fill your baby’s room with every imaginable item that is on the market to make your life easier and your baby’s life more enjoyable. However, the nursery is often one of the smallest rooms in the home and no matter how much you move things around it will still be the same size.

With some clever organising and some great planning you will be able to fit everything you need into your baby’s nursery. So instead of getting discouraged why not grab a cup of tea, sit back and enjoy these helpful pointers that will help you plan your dream nursery for your new arrivals bedroom.

When thinking of colours for your room you may be tempted to go for pastel colours because of the fear that darker colours make a room look smaller but this is not always the case. It is possible to create depth in a room when matching dark colours and pastel colours.  This could be sea and forest coloured walls matched with a sky coloured flooring or carpet. Blues, violets and greens in different shades work will too, making the room appear larger.

Many parents will opt for a feature wall which attracts focus on a single wall. It is anchored with a bold paint colour, pattern or design that contrasts against the other three walls. By having an accent to a room like this it will help to expand the look and feel of a room.

When it comes to the flooring, opt for plain carpet, avoiding patterns and fussy designs. We recommend that you have wall-to-wall carpeting in a neutral colour with a light texture. As your baby grows up, the room will soon fill with a multitude of toys in various different colours so neutral coloured flooring will be the ideal backdrop. Silver and grey colour carpets are proving to be very popular at the moment.
